NATURE PARKS IN OLYMPIA WA
If you are looking for a great place to get out of town and experience nature at it's finest. The Olympia, Washington region is one of the best places to be. If you are looking for a casual relaxed atmosphere or if you are looking for a rigorous hike through the woods, there is a wide variety of places to experience the type of nature you are looking for. Here are a few of the top-rated places.
NISQUALLY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
This wildlife refuge has been described as a magical place to visit. It has both long and short hikes to travel on depending on your desire and fitness level. This is a family friendly place where you can experience a variety of birds, woodland creatures, and many types of vegetation within a variety of ecosystems.
PRIEST POINT PARK
This is s beautiful park with many trails both long and short. Some trails lead out to the inlet and most of them have a gorgeous view to take your breath away. The trails will take you through the woods, around to the water, and some trails have fun bridges to cross. This park is perfect for taking the family out to the playground and picnic tables and then go for a stroll. It's also a great place to get some exercise and going out for a trail run. You can even bring your dog for a healthy walk. There is a garden on the west side that is a must see, especially during the summer months.
PERCIVAL LANDING
This area isn't as remote and doesn't have as much nature as other parks on this list, but it is still worth a mention. Here you can take walks along the board walk and enjoy beautiful views of the water and nearby boats. There are also a lot of little shops to walk around and enjoy. On a beautiful day, many people enjoy taking their kids and pets here for a leisurely stroll. Don't forget to enjoy the little cafés while you're there.
Nisqually Reach Nature Center
This is a great place for people to come and enjoy watching the birds. You can spot a variety of birds but most notably you'll spot waterfowl, bald eagles, and herons. There are a lot of exhibits to study and learn about the surrounding area and if you have any questions, there are volunteers that are very knowledgeable about the area. This place is kind of tricky to locate but once you do, there is a road that leads to the waterfront. Here you can launch your kayak or boat and explore the fresh water that feeds into the sound.
