Knee Pain Relief in Olympia WA

Chiropractic Olympia WA Knee Pain

It's really difficult to attempt doing your favorite activity or trying to get chores done around the house when all of a sudden, your knee begins to ache. Suddenly all you can think about is how difficult it is to stand on that leg. There's a lot going on in your knee when you begin to feel symptoms and at our chiropractic clinic in Olympia WA , we can help you sort it all out and find relief from the pain.

First let's look at the anatomy of the knee. The femur bone (commonly known as the "thigh bone") connects to the tibia bone (also known as the "shin bone"). In between these two bones there are several ligaments that connect the bones together. The ligaments play a very vital role of keeping the bones from sliding too far in different directions. There is also a cushion called a meniscus that keeps the bones from rubbing against each other and provides support during high impact activity. Muscle tendons cross the joint and facilitate movement of the joint as well as provides stability during movement. And then there's the thin bone off to the side known as the fibula that often gets ignored because it's difficult to see and feel on the outside, but it plays a very important role in stabilization and function of the joint and well as providing a surface for muscles to attach to. The last bone in the knee is the patella (also known as the kneecap). This bone is actually inside the tendon in the front of the knee. It protects the knee joint and helps to the tendon as it crosses the knees joint.

In time as we are active on our feet especially if we participate in high impact activities like jumping or running on hard surfaces, there's a lot of strain put on the cushions and the stabilizing elements. The cushions will begin to wear down and if the ligaments and tendons aren't properly holding everything together tightly, this can lead to inflammation and pain in the joint.

Treatment Options for Knee Pain in Olympia WA

At Evergreen Family Chiropractic we have a specialized machine that provides traction on the knee. In other words, it pulls on the joint and decompresses the joint. This takes the pressure off of the cushions and allows fluid to be absorbed into the cushions and helps the bones become realigned. It also significantly reduces the amount of inflammation in the area but allows blood to freely flow to and from the area which is vital for getting nutrients to the area and healing any damaged areas.

The treatment visit lasts between 10 and 20 minutes. Often times relief from pain can be felt on the first visit but sometimes several visits are needed before results can be seen, depending on the extent of damage. It is in very important to continue treatment to build up strength in the area and prevent future reoccurrence of symptoms.

At Evergreen Family Chiropractic we can help figure out what's wrong with your knee and with chiropractic adjustments and decompression therapy, we can help get you back on your feet in no time. Schedule an appointment today and let us help.
